Large Chandeliers

Large chandeliers have traditionally been associated with large public places such as auditoriums and churches. An example is a large chapel located in Poland that is made of salt crystals. However, large chandeliers are also being used in residential places.

There are several online stores that specialize in making large chandeliers. They have readily available large chandeliers that can be ordered and shipped to the buyer for a fee. Large chandeliers often come with a warranty that may last for as long as ten years. Through this, stores or suppliers guarantee their buyers that their product is durable enough to last for a long time. This really seems logical because large chandeliers are often expensive with the cheaper ones already costing as much as $2,000.

Some stores offer free consultation services. Such consultation services include a layout of the large chandelier that is issued with no obligations attached to the prospective buyer. This service is particularly attractive for those buyers who want to come up with their own design of a large chandelier.

However, a number of things should first be considered before deciding to buy a large chandelier. Although such adornments provide a lot of class to the home, it may become inapplicable in some cases.

First, the ceiling height of the place where chandelier will be installed should be checked. Rooms with vaulted ceilings and two-story foyers are best to handle large chandeliers. Next, the size of the room should be looked at. The size of the room should be large enough to not look crowded once the large chandelier is in place. A large chandelier with a diameter of one meter works best for a room that has a dimension of 30 meters by 30 meters. Lastly, the chandelier should also be bought after having considered the other furniture that would go with it. The types of furniture should dictate the appropriate design of the large chandelier.

Candle Chandeliers

Chandeliers have a classical elegance about them, and of all the chandeliers available, the candle chandelier ?takes the cake? because of its lighting. Whatever the make of the candle chandelier?wrought iron, crystal or antler?candles are fitted to it create a warm, romantic and inviting atmosphere. An incandescent candle chandelier, with shadows flickering around it, is truly a spectacular sight. These chandeliers also give a medieval look to the place.

More than illumination, candle chandeliers are used more as mood pieces. It is as appropriate in a stately ballroom as in the sleeping quarters. It doesn?t belong either above the dinner table or above the bathtub.

What the candle chandeliers are not suited for are cramped living quarters, sleek furniture with clean cuts and lines or furniture with hard edges. This is because the candles exude a certain softness and do not look at home with such furniture.

Candle chandeliers require a bit of maintenance in the sense that apart from the regular cleansing and polishing of the chandelier frame, one has to also ensure that molten wax from the candles does not seep into the nooks and crannies of the chandelier carvings. Accumulation of the wax will give the chandelier a mottled appearance. Another thing to consider is that if the chandelier is made up of glass or crystal, then you have to clean the surface thoroughly or the fumes from the candles will blacken them.

A candle chandelier glowing in all its exquisite beauty is a fragile object. It has a timeless appeal, but care and nurturing are necessary in order to sustain its glory.

Beautiful, Sparkling Chandeliers!

Beautiful, Sparkling Chandeliers!

If you want to add extra spark to rooms, consider adding chandeliers to the rooms. Chandeliers offer added elegance and charm as well as light. There are many to choose from and these can be custom made as well. A popular choice is the crystal chandelier. This beautiful piece of art is a great piece to add to a home.

If you are in the market for a chandelier, you will want to shop around to find the right one to fit your home, not only in size and shape, but in style and charm as well. There are so many choices, choices like the crystal chandeliers that sparkle and even the candle chandeliers that glow. Finding the right fit for a chandelier in your home is important depending on the function of the room, the size and color of the room, and the style of the home. Finding the right one, therefore, will take some work, but it can be done.

One option when looking for the proper chandelier for your home is to travel to home improvement stores that are so numerous these days. Often times they will have a wide selection available that you can purchase and take home that day. If you do not find what you are looking for there, try specialty stores. Items can often be ordered if not in stock. Some allow the customer to design their own to a point.

Obliviously, these may need to be ordered and will take some time to receive. Yet another option is finding the proper chandelier from home using the Internet. With so many online retailers at your finger tips, you cannot have a better chance to find the right chandler. Many of these places also offer chandelier shades and even chandelier parts just in case. Having as many options as possible will give you a great opportunity to find just the right one for your home.

Take the time to find the best chandelier for your home. Consider where it will be and the rooms purpose. Also consider the your tastes and the style of your home. Of course you will be limited by a budget, perhaps, but taking time to look in all the possible places (online, home improvement store, and specialty stores) will give you many options.

A Search for the World's Largest Chandelier

Ever wonder where the world’s largest chandelier is located? Stand in line – there are quite a few places that claim to have the world’s largest chandelier. Here is a list of some of the world’s biggest chandeliers. Decide for yourself which one can claim the crown as THE largest chandelier in the world.

The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

Perhaps the largest chandelier in the world is located here! This crystal chandelier is about 46 feet high (picture a four story building!). It is about 26 feet in diameter, and it comes to a weight of 8.5 tons which is close to 20,000 pounds! In other words, this crystal chandelier in Oman weights more than a large (very large) elephant. It is made up of 600,000 crystals. Of course, it makes sense that it should be so big… after all, can you imagine how tiny a regular size chandelier would look hanging from a 150 foot high ceiling with in an 80 foot wide dome?

The light emitted from this chandelier comes from 1,114 halogen bulbs. How would you like to have to be in charge of replacing those bulbs?! What’s more, all of the metal parts of the crystal chandelier are plated with 24-carat gold.

Some say that this chandelier is cited in the as a Guinness Book of Records, but the only records that I found for Oman is the lowest death rate, and the largest abacus!

Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Guinness World Records does have listed, however, the largest glass sculpture in the world. This sculpture is not what most people generally think of as a chandelier, but it still fits the bill. This ceiling chandelier was created by the famous glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. It measures 65 feet 7 inches by 29 feet 6 inches. It’s total weight? A total of 50,000 pounds, made up of 10,000 pounds of steel and 40,000 pounds of hand-blown glass! It truly is a site to behold.

Melbourne’s Crown Casino

While the chandelier in Melbourne’s Crown Casino cannot compete with the largest chandeliers of the world, it is generally noted as the largest chandelier in the southern hemisphere. This crystal chandelier is made up of 40,000 crystals. This, though, like Chihuly’s chandelier, is not your traditional chandelier. Sure, it is made up of crystals, but these crystals are not lit by candles or light bulbs. Rather, 10,000 fiber optics have been placed among the 40,000 crystals. These fibers work with two lasers that provide interesting animation on the ceiling.

Sand’s Casino, on the Chinese island Macao

This amazing, nearly 120 foot tall chandelier weighs an impressive 100,000 pounds plus.

Hollywood Casio, Shreveport, LA

This chandelier is clearly not the tallest, but it certainly deserves a mention. It is over three-story high, but the most impressive part about this chandelier is not just its size, but the lighting effects that come from it. There are three very unique colored lighting shows that the casino can put on.

Trafford Centre, Manchester England

Purportedly, come September of 2006, the world’s largest chandelier will by in Trafford Centre. No, this does not mean that one of the abovementioned chandeliers is going to be moved there. Rather, this Manchester shopping center is undergoing a huge remodel, and when it is done, the building will house a new, world’s largest chandelier!

Chandelier Crash Course (for Men)

Ask any female what they first think of when you say the word "chandelier" and they'll tell you about that romantic ballroom scene from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Ask any male that same question and most likely you'll get a blank stare. I call this so-called phenomenon the "Huh? Response."

Educating the male in your life that there's more to lighting than desk lamps won't be as hard as asking two of them to screw in a light bulb. In fact, it's so simple, a caveman can do it (cue Geico voiceover)! Let's start easy, WHAT is a chandelier? According to dictionary.reference.com, a chandelier is "a decorative, sometimes ornate, light fixture suspended from a ceiling, usually having branched supports for a number of lights."

WHERE exactly, should one hang a chandelier? Well my dear, one of the best places to hang your chandelier is in the foyer right when your guests step into your home. A magnificent display of light will greet your visitors, family members, solicitors, what have you. Other fabulous places to hang your chandelier include the dining room or living room. The addition of something as grandiose as a chandelier will automatically transform any normal living or dining setting into one fit for a king.

But don't think that any chandelier will do! Take into consideration the style that you're going for. Let's say you are the proud owner of a 16th century style ceiling light that looks simply…16th century. Three tiers of Gothic style candelabra lamps with chain detail complete with iron scroll-work and arrow-styled arms doesn't really say "Welcome to my Avant-garde home," but it may suggest that you'll all be dining in your dungeon. Unless you DO have a dungeon (and the aforementioned chandelier I described would look TERRIFIC in it), I suggest taking someone of sound mind with you in choosing the perfect chandelier. After all, you'll need the spectacular looking lighting to distract your visitors long enough to come up with a good excuse as to why your place is a mess.

Why Crystal Chandeliers Are Better Than Other Chandelier Types

You can add a certain flare and elegance to your home just by adding a few pieces to your whole home, pieces like crystal chandeliers. Your home will look more sophisticated and stylish just by adding a crystal chandelier that fits in your home’s style and space.

One aspect of crystal chandeliers that sets them apart from the other kinds of chandeliers is that it adds glamour to your home, just like fashion ornaments which have the same effect.

Keep in mind that chandeliers are mostly bought for decorative purposes, so crystal chandeliers already have an edge over the normal chandeliers in the sense that they are made of crystals. This is more appealing to look at and is more pleasing to the eyes, making it more aesthetically beautiful as compared to the other types of chandeliers.

Aside from the fact that crystal chandeliers look better, they also are more appealing to people since they exude certain qualities that revolves around wealth, power and status. Since people associate these qualities to crystal chandeliers, they naturally look at crystal chandeliers with certain zeal and awe, as supposed to just ordinary chandeliers.

You also need to remember that crystal chandeliers are not only a decorative element to your home, but it is also a piece of art. People usually pick crystal chandeliers for their beauty and not for their function, but what people sometimes overlook are the fact that these crystal chandeliers not only look beautiful, but they make the whole room beautiful as well. It serves both as decoration, and as a tool to make the whole room aesthetically appealing.

Although crystal chandeliers are very enticing to have, you need to consider a few factors first in order to fully maximize and make use of the effect of your crystal chandelier to your home. In order to make your crystal chandelier fit into your home’s style, you need to consider its style, its shape and size.

You also need to consider the room itself, and see how it will affect the chandelier as well. Make sure that you think about the function of the room, its size and overall design. Once you are able to do so, you can make your crystal chandelier fit into your room easily, and get the desired effect that you have been longing for.

Crystal chandeliers are a great way of making your room, or even your home, look a whole lot better. You can make it look more elegant and sophisticated, depending on how you can incorporate your crystal chandelier to your home’s design and overall appearance. Just make sure that the chandelier fits well into your home’s size and overall design so that your chandelier enhances the room, and not make it look worse.

Classicism in Crystal Chandeliers

Have you ever felt being regal by just staring at a crystal chandelier? I would say that crystal chandeliers exude elegance to whatever place it’s mounted on. The underlying beauty in it is the feeling of being part of a royal family and seeing the exquisite beauty it radiates. Wouldn't it be nice to hang a chandelier in your own home?

Several modern crystal chandeliers are often very ornate with dozens of lamps and complex arrays of glass shapes to illuminate the room in many intricate patterns. More often, you can observe such from a five star hotel or from homes of wealthy families. Buying a crystal chandelier could be of a luxury to any average family but to some filthy rich people it is their pride to expose the grandeur of their house. The fixture's popularity has been a status symbol from the 15th century up to this point of time. No average family could ever afford to buy this lighting fixture for the purpose of illuminating their house. Not to mention that crystal chandeliers are use to efficiently lighten up large halls during medieval period. They were used in medieval churches and abbeys.

Way back in 15th century, chandeliers based on ring and crown designs began to become popular decorative features. This paved the way to the status symbol in every society. By early 18th century, chandeliers made of ornate cast brass flourished among the house of merchant classes, also development of glass making during this time lead to the production of cheaper lead crystal. The light scattering properties of this highly refractive glass became more prominent which piloted the production of crystal chandeliers. Through out the years more complex and elaborate ceiling fixtures continued to develop until the widespread introduction of gas and eventually electrical lighting which devalued the traditional form of its lighting appeal.

Towards the end of 20th century, crystal chandeliers were used as a decorative focal point to any room, which defeated the purpose of illuminating large rooms. Now, the world's biggest crystal chandelier is located in Dolmabahce Palace, Turkey. It was a gift from Britain to His Imperial Majesty, The Emperor of the Ottomans.

This majestic charm of crystal chandelier is attracting people to decorate their houses with grandiosity. Currently, you can have a variety of different designs of these ceiling fixtures being sold in the market. Your taste would actually depend on how you would like to exude classicism on your own house. You may want to have it made from crystal, wrought iron, brass and others. To find the right style chandelier for your home, simply begin with a color or a material that is predominant in the decoration scheme of the room. What catches your eye in the room? What type of statement do you want to make? If the room is more traditional, choose crystal chandeliers with more ornamentation and decorative details. If your home is modern, opt for less ornamentation and simpler details.

But be reminded that in choosing your chandelier s make sure that it blends with the design and paintings of your house.Eliza Maledevic from Jump2top.com, a SEO Company. Visit GoldenAge Crystal Chandeliers & Lighting Fixtures at http://www.goldenageusa.com
